The Beach Cottage • Pacific Grove
For this 1904 beach cottage on the Monterey Peninsula we did a total remodel of the first floor, and then added a second floor to secure a view of Monterey Bay. We continued the original Shaker paneling details throughout the house, and the wood floors were porch painted in a sea-foam green to create a sense of light and air. The second floor was literally built around the existing external walls, and an office, spacious master bedroom & bath were added. For its sensitivity and attention to detail, the house was proudly awarded a Historic Preservation Award by the town of Pacific Grove.
